Springfield resident is scooter fatality lcox

At 9:38 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, officers responded to a scooter accident near the intersection of Grant and Chestnut Expressway.

The operator of the scooter, Sarah A. Cook, 52, of Springfield, drove through the grass on the south side of Chestnut Expressway, east of Grant. She drove north across the eastbound lanes of traffic, struck the median, and was thrown from the scooter while not wearing a helmet. Cook and the scooter came to rest in the westbound lanes of Chestnut Expressway. She was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead at approximately 2:12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

This accident is currently under investigation.
