Bass Pro's Camaro driver wins at Indianapolis tsapp

INDIANAPOLIS Ty Dillon, pictured, driver of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Camaro, captured his first NASCAR Nationwide Series win Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Driving for Richard Childress Racing, Dillon raced to victory at the 2.5-mile oval speedway to win the NASCAR Nationwide Series Lilly Diabetes 250. It was his second Nationwide Series career start at the Brickyard. Heading into Saturdays race, Dillon ranked fourth in the point standing. He is also competing for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award and was in second place for that at the start of the race.

2014 marks Dillons first full season of competition in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driving the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet. The Welcome, North Carolina, native began racing in 2006, earning two Bandolero and Legend Chargers wins in his first year.Dillon also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2012 and 2013 rounding out his second season as runner-up in the championship point standings and was awarded the Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver Award. Dillon is the grandson of RCR owner Richard Childress and son of Mike Dillon, a former NASCAR driver who is now RCRs general manager.
