Hughes is 13th fatality crash victim

The life of Shirley M. Hughes, 80, of Springfield was taken on June 30, 2015, when the car she was driving was struck by a 2014 Ford F150 driven by Michael D. Pender, 28, of Springfield. The accident occurred in the intersection of Melville and Kearney.

Pender and the passenger in his vehicle, Jeffry McVicker, 21, of Springfield reportedly had no injuries. An investigation is ongoing. This was the 13th fatality crash in Springfield in 2015.
