Billings participation in the national Fourth of July Holiday Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over substance-impaired driving crackdown has been declared a major success.
The Billings Police Department reported that officers issued motorists tickets for the following offenses: disregard of a stop sign, failure to yield, careless and inattentive driving, speeding (four tickets), using a fake I.D., driving while suspended/revoked, driving without insurance (three tickets) and other non-moving violations (eight tickets). Officers also made two felony arrests, a drug arrest, apprehended two fugitives and recovered a stolen vehicle during the crackdown. Officers also issued motorists 37 verbal warnings for various violations.
