Carthage announces art walk dates and themes staff

The Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk Committee has announced the dates for its fifth anniversary season presenting artists, musicians, entertainers and galleries on the Carthage Square. The dates and topics are:

  • April 24 - "Animals in April"

  • May 22 - "All in the Family"

  • June 26 - "Americana"

  • July 24 - "All Around the World"

  • August 28 - "Summer Reads"

  • September 25 - "Colors of Fall"

Each event offers the opportunity for visitors to take part in a free self-guided tour of participating venues located on the Square and one block immediately off of it in any direction. Music will fill the air and food will be complimentary at many of the galleries. Included so far are: On 3rd St. - Annie's and Carthage True Value Hardware; on E. 4th St. - Screen Door; on Grant - Carthage City Hall, Colonial House and UMB Bank; on S. Main - Carthage Deli and Ice Cream, Cherry's Custom Framing, Galbraith's Paint & Flooring Company, Koka Art Gallery, Mother Road Coffee, Old Press Building and Rumor Has It; and on Garrison - Tasteful Creations.

Artists interested in becoming a part of the event must seek approval, upload at least three images of their work, sign a waiver of liability and upon approval pay a payment of $5 per event or $20 for the season. For an application form go here.

Theatre groups are encouraged to have a booth for each event and musical and non-musical performers are invited to perform a family-friendly act. Non-musical performers will be using a stage on the south side of the square.; musical performers may designate space and any sound equipment needed. For more guidelines go here.

Sponsors are also needed. Sponsorships are limited by category. Unlimited contributions may be made by individuals for $50 or more.
