Updated: 2015-01-08 14:52:38

The gardens around Monticello, the home of the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, will be part of a continuing pictorial presentation from January 23 to March 6, 2015, by Springfield's Peter Longley.

Peter Longley, horticultural interpreter for the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, will share the photos he took in September 2014, while part of Collette Vacations' Royal Horticultural Society tour of gardens and historical sites in the eastern United States. The seven week presentation on Fridays beginning at 6 p.m. will take place at the Springfield Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Springfield, beginning on January 23, 2015.

"This is a beautiful series with in-depth looks at some of our countrys greatest gardens," Longley said.

The first presentation will feature a New York experience and include the Ground Zero Memorial Gardens, the unique High Line Garden and the world famous New York Botanical Garden. On January 30, 2015, the topics will include Philadelphia's Independence Park and the Chanticleer Garden along Philadelphia's Main Line. The series every Friday concluding on March 6, 2015, also will feature the Morris Arboretum; Longwood Gardens; the Ladew Topiary Garden; the Blue Ridge Mountains; Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson; Colonial Williamsburg and great gardens and memorials of Washington D.C.

The public is invited to these presentations. No admission charge.
