The opportunity to purchase Sunny Bunny's Easter eggs online has ended, and, according to Charlene Meeker, spokesperson for SWI Industrial Solutions, with another record setting season, its sixth continuous year of growth. What began as a concept to provide employment opportunities for community members with specific abilities, blossomed into a sustainable business. Sunny Bunny sold 2.8 million eggs during the first season and last year topped out at over 9 million. The current season of sales has exceeded $1 million, and has provided jobs for more than 60 individuals.
"Our customers feel good about purchasing products made in the US, and that also provides meaningful work for members of our community," said Larry Leek, SWI's CEO. "We continue to experience repeat business, and we look forward to becoming known as the source for Easter Eggs.
The eggs are filled with candy or toys by individuals whose abilities are appropriately matched, and since the team takes great pride in their product, the outcome is a significant confidence builder. Orders for the eggs are accepted each season until about two-weeks prior to Easter.
SWI Industrial Solutions, a private, not-for-profit corporation operating a manufacturing and light assembly facility, has offered meaningful employment to individuals with developmental disabilities for over 50 years. SWI Industrial Solutions employs a total of 300 people serving its various interests. Services offered include solutions for kitting and project management including assembly, order fulfillment and packaging. They also offer a lawn service and cleaning service.
