Art contest for kids has aviation theme staff
Updated: 2013-11-24 12:01:34
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDot) is promoting a international aviation art contest whose theme is "Flying Saves Lives." The contest is open to children between the ages of 6 and 17 with judging based upon certain age categories. The U.S. portion of the contest, that challenges young people to illustrate the importance of aviation through art, motivating them to become more familiar with aeronautics, engineering and science, is sanctioned by the National Aieronautic Association.

All art must be done by hand (or foot or mouth for challenged individuals) in permanent media, and not pencil or charcoal, computer generated or collages involving the use of photocopies. The required format is 11 3/4" x 16 1/2". It should be unframed and without any outlines or borders.

Included on the back of the artwork should be the title, family name, given name, address, date of birth, country of residence, name and address of school to which the child attends and a certificate of authenticity (yes, the child did it).

Submissions should be mailed to Teresa Hall, Missouri Dept. of Transportation, P.O. Box 270, Jefferson City, MO 65102. All artwork for the state competition must be postmarked by Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.
