Discovery Center head to move to New Mexico staff
Updated: 2013-10-24 19:35:35
To be with her family, Emily Fox, executive director of the Discovery Center of Springfield, has accepted a position as senior development officer with the University of New Mexico Foundation. Her resignation is effective November 24, 2013.

A founding director of the Discovery Center, Fox assisted in the establishment of the science center that serves as a regional destination for tourists, families and school. She has extended credit to the hundreds of volunteers throughout the years who have helped the center grow.

"The Springfield region is richer thanks to the numerous personal and professional contributions of Emily, and the legacy she has established at the Discovery Center will continue to thrive with the support of the community," said Charlotte McCoy, a center spokesperson.

A timeline to search for a replacement will be discussed at the next meeting of the board of directors scheduled for October 28, 2013.

The center is located at 438 E. St. Louis in downtown Springfield. An expansion program completed in 2006 gave the center the distinction of being the first LEED Gold certified building in Southwest Missouri.
