The Springfield Police Department and The Greene County Sheriffs Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night, June 27, 2014, at National Avenue and Sunset Street. A total of 744 motorists were contacted during the 3 hours the checkpoint was in operation. Ten drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, four for Driving While Suspended/Revoked, three warrant arrests, five drug arrests, and five people were charged with No Operators License. One stolen vehicle was recovered with a resulting arrest of the driver.
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
