Neighborhood tree planting project is underway  mhaase
Updated: 2013-09-27 09:32:17
Springfield is celebrating 10 years of the NeighborWoods program, a partnership between the city, the Springfield Tree City USA Citizens Advisory Committee, City Utilities and recognized neighborhood groups or other non-profit groups for the purpose of enhancing Springfield's community forest. City funds are used for purchasing and planting tax-exempt trees from area nurseries through established city contracts. Neighborhood volunteers then establish the trees for a minimum of three years.

NeighborWoods is accepting applications through December 1, 2013, for spring 2014 tree-planting projects. If your neighborhood is interested in enhancing its community forest, contact Troy Powell, coordinator, at (417) 874-2154 or by e-mail here.
