Updated: 2014-12-18 15:01:38
The Springfield Little Theatre, in cooperation with Jarrett Middle School, has announced that it is accepting original works centered on the theme of bullying for its first annual playwriting contest. Short plays from students of all ages will be chosen for the Education Series production, "Sticks & Stones: A Collection of Short Plays on Bullying." Submission deadline is February 10, 2015. For more information contact Jessica Palmer by e-mail here or by phone at (417) 869-1334, x11.

Students whose work is selected are asked to be available at the time of the performances for recognition and are encouraged to be available during a portion of the rehearsal process to workshop material with the cast.

Rehearsals for the chosen plays will be Monday-Thursday, Apr. 13-30, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at the Landers Theatre. Performances will be Friday, May 1, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Jarrett Middle School auditorium. A short play by George Halitzka as well as by area students will be featured. Contact (417) 869-3859, x15, to learn more.
