Updated: 2016-06-14 14:00:57
The Springfield Police Department is continuing the investigation into a motor vehicle crash in which a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in the 600 block of East Kearney Street at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday, June 10. The bicyclist, Jesse Beach, 28, of Springfield, received critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Beach was an organ donor and was kept on life support over the weekend in order to facilitate organ donation, which has been completed as of Monday.

The involved vehicle which left the scene of the crash was located by a citizen and recovered by police in the 2100 block of N. Clifton on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle was described as a skinny black male. Investigators are continuing to work to identify and locate this driver as they continue to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information that would assist in locating or identifying the driver of the white vehicle is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (417-869-8477).

This marks the twelfth fatality crash in Springfield for 2016.
