Updated: 2016-04-09 21:48:50
The Springfield Police Department, in conjunction with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night at Jefferson Avenue and Harrison Street. A total of 590 motorists were contacted during the four hours the checkpoint was in operation. Fifteen drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, five for Driving While Suspended, two for misdemeanor warrants, and six for misdemeanor drug offenses.

The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.

Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.

Drunk driving is not worth the consequences remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
