Springfield PD blotter: Search warrant/ricin gdorrell

On Aug. 28, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Springfield Police Department, with assistance from the Springfield Fire Department, FBI and the Missouri National Guard, executed a state search warrant at 2210 N. Boonville. Investigators had received credible information that ricin was being manufactured at that location. The information led to a search warrant. With the potential of toxic materials being present, appropriate protective gear was utilized by those personnel conducting the search.

FBI investigators did collect evidence from the scene for further testing. SPD investigators seized a firearm and a felony amount of marijuana pursuant to the search warrant. There is no heightened threat to public safety.

The resident of 2210 N. Boonville, Tony R. Altman (DOB 9-5-61), had been arrested on an unrelated traffic charge the day before and was not present when the warrant was served
