There have been multiple suspicious cat deaths in the general area of Phelps Grove Park, 950 E. Bennett, Springfield, between February 26th and March 19th, 2016.
Several cats have been found deceased, under suspicious circumstances. One cat is still missing, and another was severely injured and returned to its home on its own.
These incidents are usually taking place between 9 p.m. and midnight.
A person of interest has been described as a White Male, 60 to 64 with an average build, weighing around 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing a maroon hoodie, a dark brown backpack, and jeans.
This male has be contacted and observed by multiple area residents, sitting on the front porches of homes in the area, while cradling cats. During one incident the male was sitting on a porch and was contacted by the homeowner. The person of interest said he was admiring the homeowners cats. The male may live in the area and frequents Phelps Grove Park on foot during the evening hours.
